In Honor of Buddy.

National Pet Cancer Awareness Month.

In honor of Buddy, Rover Resort is actively participating in the National Pet Cancer Awareness Month this November.   Buddy, Rover Resort’s inspiration and Royal Ambassador, succumbed to bone cancer in November of 2012.  Through his legacy he would want us to help those facing similar life changing medical issues.  Our goal is to raise awareness and make positive contributions to those in need.

Fight Canine Cancer Wrist Bands from Rover Resort.

We are collecting donations for cancer treatments, prevention, and research the entire month of November.  You can contribute any time, but this month in particular, we invite your participation.  Please help us help someone in need with any donation.  Fight Canine Cancer wrist bands are available in our lobby and from all of our staff members.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in cats and dogs, which is why organizations like the National Canine Cancer Foundation have set aside the entire month of November to educate pet parents about the causes, effects, and treatments of this terrible disease.

Sobering Pet Cancer Statistics

  • 12 million cats and dogs are diagnosed with cancer every year
  • 1 out of every 4 dogs will be diagnosed with cancer
  • 1 in 5 cats will get cancer
  • Half of all dogs diagnosed will die from cancer
  • Dogs are 2x more likely to develop leukemia than humans, 4x more likely to develop breast cancer, 8x more likely to develop bone cancer, and 35x more likely to develop skin cancer

*According to the Animal Cancer Foundation and PetCancerAwareness.org.

Please stop by Rover Resort to learn more about how you can contribute to those in need, email us, or give us a call at 214-544-7387 for more information.

Boxer Seeks Furever Home.

Sunni Needs a New Family.

BoxerSunniNeedsHome
Sunni Seeks Furever Home.

We’ve known Sunni for sometime but her life changed recently and she’s been staying with us at Rover Resort.  While we have been having a grand time playing together every day, she really wants to find a furever home with people that will love and care for her like the little darling she is. Sunni is very attractive (yes, I notice these things) and even though ladies don’t like to tell their age or weight, I must share that she is 11 years old and weighs approximately 40 lbs. She is very social with people and other dogs.  Sunni is current on all her vaccinations, spayed, and crate trained.  Wouldn’t it be pawsome if she had a new family for Thanksgiving?

Please feel free to stop by Rover Resort to meet her, email us, or give us a call at 214-544-7387 for more information.

National Pet Memorial Day

National Pet Memorial Day

Forever honored to be called Buddy’s Mom and Dad.
buddy-ginger

On National Pet Memorial day, we are forever thankful to have shared seven years of Buddy’s inspiring journey. He was the founder and heart of Rover Resort. He was our best friend, companion, teacher, child, lobby greeter and bed warmer. Within 10 months of Buddy’s passing we also lost Ginger our sweet little girl and Rover Resort’s co-founder. Ginger loved everyone, stayed out of the spotlight but was a dear and genuine soul. Chasing squirrels was her favorite past-time which always made us smile. Ginger found us in 2001 and graciously made us her home for 12 wonderful years.

Our guiding lights are survived by their family members … Deuce who is eight and Huey who is two. Both have taken over as chief bed warmers and elite squirrel chasers. Huey has taken the reign as Rover Resort lobby greeter, playground director, and ambassador. Deuce enjoys helping daddy with chores and truck rides. Lola loves her frisbee, ball or any toy with a human attached to play with and Lady has earned her right to be queen of her cushion. All of our babies learned from the loving spirit that Buddy and Ginger graciously passed along. Our wish … one more golf car ride all together again. — Cathy and Jeff
